The project description
VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminals) is small satellite Earth station (usually of 0.9-2.4m dish diameter), used for the applications requiring reliable (in first turn) communication channels for data, video and audio information transmission. It does not require the personnel for daily service and support.
The satellite network (VSAT network) consists of a terrestrial and satellite segment. The terrestrial segment is made of central teleport (HUB) and remote VSAT terminals. Satellite segment is a rented throughput on the satellites (usually geostationary). The topology of a similar network is star-alike. The unique feature of satellite networks is, that there is a technical opportunity of construction not only "point to point" connections. The special interest is represented by usage of hybrid networks (with the common reception channel). The similar solutions allow to use a satellite segment effectively and essentially reduce the operational charges.
The approximate scheme of such connection:
LuckyLink-VSAT is a satellite data transfer network focused on regional ISPs and designed according of their specifity.
